Week Three: Gratitude

Carol has always felt gratitude is the key to a happy life. Every day for the past 25 years, she has entered three things she is grateful for into her journal, and this trip is no exception.

While this week’s rides were easier, there was one bump in the road — literally. After cruising down a long hill at an increased speed in Tillman, Ala. she hit an unexpected curb and lost her balance. “I’m not sure how I was able to regain myself, but if I hadn’t — at that speed — I could have been seriously injured,” Carol reveals. “This week’s word is grateful.”

“I feel myself getting stronger on the road every day, but I am starting to feel the strain of all this activity”

She has been finding inspiration in the many messages on the church signs she passes, the white sands of Alabama and Mississippi Gulf Coast beaches where she spotted a large pod of dolphins, and the festive Mardi Gras parades that are leading her way to Louisiana.

Carol has now ridden over 700 miles.

“I feel myself getting stronger on the road every day, but I am starting to feel the strain of all this activity,” she says. “At night Arnicare Cream and Leg Cramps continue to help with muscle pain and Calendula Cream has soothed my saddle sores.”
